Diagnostic Records

Dr. Redd is skilled in diagnosing orthodontic problems and creating personalized treatment plans designed to meet your individual needs and desires. To help him obtain an accurate diagnosis, we must first collect diagnostic record information about your teeth and jaws.

These diagnostic records will include:

  • Cephalogram : an X-ray of the head
  • Panoramic X-ray: an X-ray of the jaw and teeth
  • Impressions: models of the teeth
  • Facial and intraoral photographs

The cephalogram X-rays captures a detailed image of the patient’s dental bite or occlusion, as well as the relationship between the skeletal structure and the bite. This full skull X-ray is a profile image of the patient’s head. This will help Dr. Redd determine which treatment will help achieve the most beautiful smile and functional facial harmony.

Panoramic X-ray

This single X-ray is a detailed panoramic view of the patient’s teeth and the relationship between them. This will assist Dr. Redd in determining the best course of treatment for your individual case.

An impression is a plaster cast of the patient’s teeth that is beneficial in creating the most effective treatment plan, as well as helps patients visually see the progress they have made towards their beautiful, straight smile.

Facial & Intraoral Photography

We will capture three to six images of the face and teeth using facial and intraoral photography. This allows our patients to see exactly what Dr. Redd sees, as well as assists us in accurate treatment planning.

After all this information has been collected and Dr. Redd has created your personalized treatment plan, we will meet with you to discuss our recommended treatment plan, the cost of treatment and financial options. Generally, this appointment is two weeks after the records are collected.
